According to WebMed, inflammation is a process by which the body's white blood cells and substances they produce protect us from infection with foreign organisms, such as bacteria and viruses. This would make one think that the term is restricted to the body’s protection mechanism due to any physical trauma like cuts, bruises or other serious wounds.
However there is something known as long term or chronic inflammation that affects the body internally. This is an auto immune response by the body’s defense system when at times it wrongly identifies factors as being harmful to the body and causes inflammation which could, in the long run lead to serious metabolic disorders and cancer.
What are these factors?
They include dietary factors like a high carb(especially refined sugar) ,low protein diet. This leads to obesity and heart disease as a result of inflammation where the body rejects the excess fat cells.Apart from this, certain allergents like gluten in wheat products and lactose in milk can trigger an inflammatory response in the body. The other factors are physical and emotional stress, environmental pollution and the hormonal imbalance thats occurs post menopause.
Having a conscious control over these elements and changing our lifestyle can go a long way in minimizing the effects of this one precursor that could lead to chronic ill health.Develop the ability to recognize minor changes that occur in your body over a period of time.Inhibit Inflammation.
