It is that time of the year when one has indulged in sweets, pastries, wafers and lots of other junk food in the name of festivities. You feel lethargic, your tummy is bloated and yet the thought of getting back on the healthy track seems to be an uphill task. How does one ever get over post festival blues after all? Here are a few tips.
- Hydrate yourself.Drink water whenever you get the urge to open another sweet or snack box. Many a time you mistake your need to rehydrate for a craving and end up indulging.
- Clear your store/fridge of the excess goodies.Give them away to your house help.Out of sight is out of mind.
- Take long walks to get over the lethargy and the moody state of mind. It will refresh and motivate you to plan for a healthy routine.
- Start your day with a few minutes of meditation.Close your eyes and try studying the patterns you perceive through the closed eyelids.Give yourself some time away from your phone or any other activity and mentally plan your day ahead. This will make you focussed and avoid whiling away your time or feeling frustrated.
- Ensure that you get your sleep pattern right. This is one of the most vital factors to overcome fatigue and mood swings.Get your 8 hours of sleep and keep your phone away an hour at least before bedtime.
- Fill in your snack store with healthy nuts, seeds, makhaana and a few fruits so that when you really feel hungry these can curb your cravings.
- Most importantly, don't go down the guilt trip post the festive season. Festivals are the time to enjoy with your family and friends and a little bit a indulgence won't do any harm. Look forward to getting back into shape with a smile on your face 😊
